Construction Coordinator


About this role

We’re hiring a Construction Coordinator for our client, a large Petrochemical company, to join their team. This is a 18 month contract with long-term potential.


  • Supervise and control the jobsite, including contractor personnel and equipment, to assure safety, productivity and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards
  • Implement workplace safety programs including site control, emergency response and contractor orientation
  • Act as the Designated Safety Representative (DSR) for construction contractors including managing site access and work permitting
  • Manage and report safety, environmental and loss incidents including investigation as required
  • Assure field quality management practices are employed including material control, adherence to pressure piping or electrical safety codes QMP requirements, testing, inspection, reporting, data collection and redlining of engineered drawings
  • Perform field quality surveillance against the engineered drawings and specifications
  • Coordinate safety codes and other inspections as required
  • Monitor and report on work practices and adherence to Safety Standards and intervene if required
  • Approve daily labour and equipment timesheets for force-account work; verify and document work status for purposes of progress payments on unit price or lump-sum contracts
  • Coordinate daily construction activities and interfaces between field contractors and operations
  • Request and coordinate owner-supplied construction support services such as scaffolding and cranes
  • Develop the project-specific Construction Execution Plan
  • Monitor and report on work progress and communicate regularly with the project team
  • Advise on construction-related matters including conducting constructability reviews and best practices



  • 10+ years’ of construction coordination experience in process facilities
  • Experience with projects that are $10M plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care (safety program), and experience in providing leadership to other individuals in achieving safety results
  • Demonstrated understanding of industrial construction practices related to:
    • Manpower supervision and communication
    • Safe work practices
    • Cost control and scheduling
    • Pressure piping fabrication and assembly
    • Quality planning and control processes
    • Document management and data control
    • Material receiving, identification, traceability, and storage
    • Inspection and testing
    • Ground Disturbance
    • Contract administration
  • Familiar with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Programs
